An Observation

U.S.A. vs El Salvador

World Cup Qualifier 9/5/2009 Rio Tinto Stadium Sandy, Utah

Result: U.S.A. 2 - 1 El Salvador

This was my first U.S. Men’s National Team game since the 96’ Olympics.  It was an exciting match, below are some key points I took away from the game.

  • Charlie Davies was the real deal; an explosive, speedy striker with a positive first touch.  I’m glad I had the chance to see him play before his accident and hope he can reach that form again.                                                               
  • Stuart Holden came on as a second half sub and looked the same.  A skillful player on the rise looking dangerous every time he was on the ball.  I anticipate he’ll make a full recovery from his injury, and get his chance to make a positive impact for the USMNT.                                                                                                                                              
  • The El Salvador fans were awesome.  It was a rowdy atmosphere and I’ll gladly see these two play again when WCQ 2014 starts up.
